Get to Know: White Sails

We spoke with Gitaanjali, daughter of White Sails’ founder Dave Naidu, to learn about the inspiration behind the family-run business, the unique features of their yachts, and how they tailor experiences to create memorable moments on the water.

How and when did White Sails get started in the yacht industry?

Gitaanjali: White Sails started in 2011 as a family-run business, established by my father. I joined the business subsequently, in 2019. My father wasn’t originally in the yachting industry, but after organising a memorable yacht charter for my mum’s birthday, he was inspired by the idea of having a yacht to explore the seas, and also thought it would be a wonderful experience to share with others.

What yachts do you offer, and what are the key features clients tend to love the most?

Gitaanjali: We have two yachts under our fleet, SunRise and SunRider, each with its own unique qualities. SunRise is often chosen by clients due to its aesthetic appeal and large outdoor deck space. She has a capacity of 18 guests and features a trampoline net at the front, a favourite spot for clients to relax on as we cruise out to sea. SunRider, on the other hand, has a beautiful, sleek interior decked with ambience lights and comfortable leather seating. She can accommodate up to 16 guests inside the saloon area, which is ideal for clients who want to have team-building or sing karaoke.

SunRise and SunRider both come with complimentary water activities. SunRise comes with a kayak, a stand up paddle, snorkel kits, fishing rods and a floating mat. SunRider comes with stand up paddles, snorkel kits, fishing rods and a floating mat.

What types of occasions or events do you most frequently cater to, and what makes your yachts ideal for these moments?

Gitaanjali: In recent times, corporate retreats have become quite popular, along with birthday parties, hen parties and proposals. Both yachts offer flexibility for these events, whether it’s an intimate proposal on SunRise or a team-building activity on SunRider

Do you offer any special packages with your yacht charters?

Gitaanjali: We don’t offer fixed packages, as we prefer a bespoke approach to suit each client’s needs. We partner with decorators, F&B providers, and florists, so if a client wants, we can fully customise a package to match their preferences.

What is one of the most memorable or unique experiences a client has had aboard your yachts?

Gitaanjali: A recent standout was a wedding proposal where the bride-to-be proposed to the groom-to-be —organised by the bride’s friends! It was adorable to see such enthusiasm from the group, and it was a first for us. We’ve also had many lively hen parties where guests dress up and celebrate in style.

Do you offer overseas destinations, and if so, what are some of the most popular routes or destinations?

Gitaanjali: At the moment, we don’t offer overseas destinations, but we’re in the research phase and exploring options. Within Singapore, our standard route is to Lazarus Island, though we can pass by landmarks like Marina Bay Sands for a city skyline cruise, or cruise past offshore islands like Sisters Island or Kusu Island. For fishing, we can sail to more productive fishing spots as well.

What do you believe White Sails key elements are to delivering a world-class yacht charter experience?

Gitaanjali: Firstly, our goal is to make the booking process as straightforward and fuss-free as possible, with transparent and quick communication if clients need help. Hospitality is also key; we
ensure our crew and captain are friendly and accommodating, which our clients often highlight in reviews. Timely responses and excellent hospitality are at the core of our service, as having these elements will tremendously help us build trust with our clients.
