Get to Know: Infinity Sails

We spoke with Jian Yong, the owner of Infinity Sails, to uncover the inspiration behind his transition from running a swimming school to leading a yacht charter business, the family-friendly features that make his yachts stand out, and how he’s using his fleet to share the joys of open-water experiences with guests and students alike.

How and when did Infinity Sails get started in the yacht industry?

Jian Yong: I officially bought Infinity Sails in 2020 during the COVID-19 period, inheriting one of its yachts and then adding another to the fleet. Before that, I’d been running a baby and toddler swimming school with ten indoor heated pools, but our operations were halted for ten months. I knew my next venture needed to be something I’d enjoy long term and stay connected to an aquatic environment. The yacht charter industry fit perfectly and opened at just the right time as small group gatherings became allowed, and we quickly saw demand with two bookings daily. Besides chartering the yachts to customers, I also use them to introduce my students to open-water swimming.

What yachts do you offer, and what are the key features clients tend to love the most?

Jian Yong: We currently have two yachts: Argon (for 18 guests plus two crew) and Escapade (for 32 guests plus three crew). Both offer a strong family vibe, which seems to draw a more family-oriented crowd compare to the party-crowd that the captain had previously experienced. We focus on family-friendly amenities like a barbecue pit, karaoke system, towels.

What types of occasions or events do you most frequently cater to, and what makes your yachts ideal for these moments?

Jian Yong: Most of our charters are for birthday parties, family gatherings, wedding proposals, and corporate events like team bonding and solemnization. However, family gatherings and birthday parties remain the most popular

Do you offer any special packages with your yacht charters?

Jian Yong: We do not have any special packages currently. Our base package is a standard 4 hour charter, the price includes the first 6 guests on Argon and the first 10 guests on Escapade. For any additional guests, there will be an extra charge per person. Should customers wish to extend their time onboard, there will also be an additional charge per hour.

What is one of the most memorable or unique experiences a client has had aboard your yachts?

Jian Yong: We’ve hosted quite a few celebrities like, Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, and Mark Lee, as well as some Taiwanese and Korean artist. Fann Wong for instance, books our yacht annually for National Day, as it happens to also be her son’s birthday. It’s been quite memorable to build connections with clients who return for special occasions each year.

What do you believe Infinity Sails’ key elements are to delivering a world-class yacht charter experience?

Jian Yong: Service is our top priority. We put a strong focus on the customer experience, aiming to fulfil every reasonable request. For instance, we bring out our dinghy to shuttle guests to and from the beach, prioritising both safety and comfort. Our crew embodies this customer-centric culture by staying attentive to guests’ needs.

Lastly, any other things that you would like to share with the readers on Infinity Sails or on your experience so far in the industry?

Jian Yong: Our community is small, and there’s a wonderful culture of support. From my first day in this industry, neighbours at the marina helped me with berthing, and we continue to help one another. I encourage everyone, especially newcomers, to foster this collaborative spiritit’s what makes this work truly rewarding.
